Immortal Jolly Lore

In the wake of humanity’s demise, the Earth seized a golden opportunity to heal and recover all it had lost to their touch. Only a handful of beings lingered in the world, the Old Gods. They erased most vestiges of human existence, like their towering structures and crafted relics. The only remnants they left behind were the bones of the departed.

The Ancient One, the creator of all life, used these bones to forge a new species, one sworn to safeguard the Earth’s prosperity rather than harm it. He infused these bones with a mystical power, imbuing them with consciousness. This arcane energy held their skeletal forms together, bearing a striking resemblance to humans; they came to be known as Skel’tonians.

Under the guidance of the ancient gods, they were taught the fundamental wisdom of humanity and the art of harnessing the Earth’s resources. Among the Old Gods, Anubis harboured reluctance in imparting his knowledge to the Skel’tonians. As a deity, he yearned for worship and reverence. However, fear of exile to the 9th realm eventually compelled Anubis to bestow his teachings upon them.

Centuries drifted by, and the Skel’tonians flourished, establishing thriving realms across the Earth. Each territory was entrusted with a leader chosen by the Old Gods. In Egypt, that leader was a Skel’tonian named Jolly.

Jolly’s upbringing was moulded by his parents, a mage and a temple guard. His father was a temple guardian in the service of Anubis; he instilled in Jolly an unyielding valour and an unwavering commitment to righteousness. This forged him into a formidable warrior, yet compassionate in moments of mercy. His mother was a mage of the Ancient One’s church, instilling in Jolly a deep love for their creator and an immunity to the potential falsehoods uttered by the old gods.

For the past seven years, Jolly had reigned over Egypt, transforming it into a thriving hub for scholars and artisans. Anubis, however, perceived Jolly’s success as a means to an end, a gateway to obtaining the Ancient One’s power. To achieve his ambition, Anubis needed to draw more Skel’tonians to his side with the help of Jolly. Anubis did not realise that persuading Jolly wouldn’t be as straightforward as he had assumed.
